Political Freedom in Pakistan

Political Freedom in Pakistan
Political Freedom in Pakistan

Though Pakistan was formed to endorse the ethics of democracy, the history of Pakistan is endemic with Military coups in Pakistan, and for most of its account after freedom has been feint by military dictators who state themselves president. The General elections of Pakistan, 2013 were the first elections in the country where there was a legitimate relocate of authority from one civilian government to another. The elections were blemished by terrorist attacks that murdered hundreds and injured more than 500 and extensive rigging of polls, the utmost in the state's proof account.

Religious minorities were disallowed from voting for Muslim candidates after Zia-ul-Haq's Islamization and non-Muslims are limited in the posts they may compete for, with some of the higher posts being occupied to them. Even though some of these commandments were afterward annulled religious minorities still prolong to counter numerous boundaries in politics.

Though unhurried but sturdy evolution has been made towards return to democracy in the last decade, many Pakistanis and foreign analyst see the military still determinedly unshakable in politics with the government playing second swindle to the military. The government is extensively seen as having no power over the armed forces and the Inter-Services Intelligence.

Most of Pakistan's laws are worldly in temperament, some of which were inborn from the United Kingdom's colonial rule of current Pakistan before 1947. Though in practice, ruthless Sharia Law takes priority over Pakistani law. What are measured Basic human rights in Pakistan and even slight delinquency in most of the cultured world bear a death sentence in Pakistan. The constitutionof Pakistan has been altered numerous times in its short history, with Islamization being the lashing aspect. Though the government has endorsed a few actions to counteract any harm, abuses stay. Also, courts endure from lack of funds, external interference, and deep case accumulation that guide to extended tryout delays and prolonged pretrial detentions. Many spectator inside and outside Pakistan challenge that Pakistan’s legal code is mostly disturbed with felony, national defense, and domestic serenity and fewer with the defense of individual rights.

In 2010, Foreign Policy ordered Pakistan as number ten on its Failed States Index, inserting it in the "serious" group with such other futile or worsening states as Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Somalia. Pakistan constantly records near the top of the list of failed states year after year.

Promising Politician traits

Promising Politician Traits
Promising Politician Traits

The first belief of unalienable rights distinguishes that everyone is naturally gifted by their Creator with certain privileges that cannot be undermine or given away. With these rights are verve, autonomy and quest of happiness.

Constitutions are also made for the function of sheltering, securing, endorsing good power, accountability and well-being of all citizens-the governed. The governments established among men are the selected government who are known as the politicians. These politicians are requisite to execute social development and plan measures that add to the universal well-being of the laypeople.

Politician role in any country matters the most. It depends upon a politician to build or destroy country. The countries that are working hard to stabilize themselves need a good politician who can tackle any miserable situation tactfully.

A Politician plays vital role in our lives. They are the strenuous voices of the people that make all labors to recover their constituencies and peoples’ good. Good politicians are glee to dole out the people and deem themselves as servants and people their paymasters. They symbolize the optimism, desire and the well-being of every inhabitant in the state.

Politician traits are his characters that are innate, whereas some of the traits are as an outcome of peripheral control. Promising politician’s traits are habitually supported by knacks, knowledge, and aptitude, honesty, with innate-all shared jointly to attain their objectives. First and leading, top trait of a politician is sincerity, God fearing and loving. A truthful and helpful politician is reliable and unswerving. He must detain the strength of realism, exhibit genuineness, truthfulness and practices what he sermonize.

The best example in the history of Pakistan thorough which we can relate a good politician was Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who works hard to help his people in the sub continent. With his utmost efforts he was able to get a new land where his people can live freely without any harm. The lives of the people were safe in this newly created land. However the politicians next to him were not able to attain this status for long and that’s the reason that makes Pakistani people suffer for so long even after the independence.

Political Development from 2007 onwards

By having a rule of almost 10 years the public of Pakistan feel rejected to see Pervaiz Musharaf and his government and after the return of Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz sharif who were exile for years and also the leaders of strongest political parties in Pakistan i.e. PPP and PML (N) the public feel a new revolution in the air of Pakistan leading more difficulties in the path of Musharaf who was facing big challenges in the name of day by day increasing terrorism. On the other hand Benazir was facing some serious threats and thus was welcomed by the blast which was then named as “Saniha Karsaz” killing numerous PPP followers fortunately Benazir survived in this attack, but when conducting an election rally in Rawalpindi she was shot in the head which proves to be fatal. Thus the nation feel devastated at the terrible loss of the great Politician. The death of Benazir thus caused the elections to be postponed for the few months so the political situations should be controlled.

In 2008 nation feel emotionally attached to the PPP who was then supervised by Benazir‘s son i.e. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who became the chairmen of PPP. Thus PPP proved to be victorious in the elections that were held on 18thof February 2008 followed by PML (N). On the other hand PTI had already withdrawn from the elections.

Soon after PPP rule as a government the economic unbalance started too fretful. Higher rates of Petrol, Diesel, and daily basis living things put aggression in the public. The government neither solved any problem instead keep on raising prices.

After their rule which was not successful at all the country was fallen into mounts of debts and high prices of everything.

As a result of government failure Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri held a long
Long March
march on 14thJan of that year in Islamabad in D chowk to derail the government of Pakistan with heavy crowds. He sets his conditions to held elections ASAP.  By setting protest for three days and having several meetings with the government authorities they compromise on following conditions:

First and most prior demand was to call for electoral reforms i.e. vetoing corrupt incumbents from taking part in the elections and to bring forward the date for the election ASAP.

Qadri also demanded for the interim government from the input of judiciary and military to hold the charge of the country before elections, as this concept abolishes the history of Pakistan so this offer was refused by the military. Upon reaching Islamabad Qadri put a new demand for the Parliament dissolution by 15th of Jan by making president of Pakistan “an ex president”. The protest last for 3 days which results in putting new demands day by day. Now the demand was to dissolution of provincial assemblies and disbanding of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The demands of Qadri were accepted in such a way that Elections to be held on 11th of May.National Assembly would be dissolved before 16th of March and elections to be held within 90 days following one month of scrutiny under Articles 61 and 62 under the constitution of Pakistan.

Qadri congratulated protesters on the night of 17th Jan after meeting with the government correspondent and said “It is a day of victory for the marchers and the nation alike. [I thank] Almighty Allah who bestowed His blessings [on the protesters].”

2013 elections then appeared to be bogus by having numerous corruptions in most of the NA’s. Imran khan the chairmen of PTI held countrywide protest stating to re held the elections.

2007-2013 political development causes great disturbance in the country economic situation. Day by day protest has also caused the business of the public to be shuttered down, schools to be off and same is the case of work. Moreover due to strikes the roads were blocked which causes people to stay at home and patients to die on road. May such situations never ever come in the future Pakistan Ameen.

Good Governance Accountability

There are certain essential ethics that remain unchanged across margins that doesn't depend upon language, traditions or so norms of a region. For example, we have not seen anywhere in the world, heaps demanding prevalent chaos and disorder, on the opposing side, world over people wants to have an efficient structure of supremacy to uphold statue of law in the people. Hence, it feels safe and sound to imagine seeing regulation and strength in the culture is something that is intrinsic to all human beings. It is this vital necessity that impels us all to assemble following political leaders, applaud for them during convoy and vote for them during elections. Hoping, all time that our leader will bring forward peace, prosperity and change in the society when he/she will be in power. Nevertheless, our hope to witness betterment in the world is not time bound and so it does not finish subsisting upon casting the vote. These hopes persist after new government is in charge, motivating us to examine their strategies, course of actions of government authorities and their leaders.

It is the movement for steady development in the milieu that mounts another fundamental assessment that globally people know as ACCOUNTABILITY.

Many people consider Accountability as the fourth leg of the figurative chair for good domination. It helps many to appraise the value of public administrator and offices, making sure that they are performing at their best and guarantee to serve their people at any time of their need.

So how can we exercise accountability in our society? From what means a voter can share his/her concerns? How can we complain? How can we reach government authorities?

In Pakistan there are many organizations whose solitary rationale is to make sure that the government and its offices are running their matters evidently. There are some organizations in which an ordinary person can submit his complaint regarding the functioning of the government. For example in NAB (National Accountability Bureau) which is an anti corruption organization and every Pakistani is adequate to submit his or her complaint against any government authority, political leader or bureaucratic along with witnesses.

Parliament of Pakistan is another one of the most important organization in the succession of accountability. The parliament is not only the bridge between people and government but its role is critical in terms of accountability institutions report. And through parliament, its people and civic groups can have different information about laws and policies.

In other way there are many sources through which a government can ensure effective governance's. And it’s just not government; it’s the responsibility of the citizens too, as they help government in running good terms.

Pak voter – Civic Education

It is necessary to understand the civic education, as it is the study of the speculative and realistic features of citizenship, the rights and the responsibilities they owe to each other as a part of a political body and the government. It endorses the study of law and code and the study at government level with the perspective of nation’s roles.

In tradition it is the study of awareness and the awareness is related to its citizens. Pak voter with that vision is an informative portal that is designed in a way to provide relative information and the information is just not related to nowadays but it has shown the information related to Pakistan history too in different perspective. It is a doorway to aware its people about the Government of Pakistan, the Constitution of Pakistan, composition of parliament, election laws, the elections it had and their history.

It should be noted that Pak voter is not only providing us knowledge about these things but there are many more subjects and the subjects to it and we will discuss them in separate sessions.

In Election history of Pakistan, Pak voter is describing the political development with respect to past years with relevant details and images. Election Timeline has been divided into following categories like General elections, presidential elections, senate elections and snapshot of the election history in Pakistan. These sub-categories have been further divided which discuss details to elections in every perspective like General elections is divided into national assembly graph and provincial assembly graph.

As a citizen of Pakistan, we feel hard to find a portal like Pak voter, where someone aware us from the current situation as well as the situation from the past.

Civic Education –Electoral system

Civic Education - Electoral system

Civic education is the study of responsibilities of a nation and its just not responsibilities, it’s about the rights they owe, the responsibilities of a person to each other as elements of a political body and to the government. It is a study of civil law and civil code and the study of government with consideration of citizens.

Pakvoter is an information portal for civic education and all about political information in Pakistan.  It has many features within it is categorized into several sub categories. It’s an information guide that informs us about civic education that covers political development history in Pakistan, Election history of Pakistan that swathe the general elections, senate, presidential elections and the election history of Pakistan. In legal framework, Pakvoter wraps election laws, election observation and constitution of Pakistan; that frames the whole election system in Pakistan.

There are many sub categories in civic education, however in this session I am only discussing Electoral system in Pakistan.

Electoral system of Pakistan has been divided into Composition of Parliament, Senate of Pakistan, National Assembly, Caretaker cabinet and final electoral rolls for 2012.

In electoral system of Pakistan whole Composition of Parliament has been divided into three parts i.e. composition of senate, National Assembly and Provincial Assembly. Wherein composition of Senate; general seats and Senate seats reserved for women, technocrat and non-Muslims have been discussed for Federal Capital territory, Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, KPK and FATA.  In composition of National Assembly; general seats and seat via women, technocrat and non-Muslims has been discussed area vise and in the last sub category of Composition of Parliament i.e. Composition of Provincial assemblies’ seats have been discussed in point of view of General, women and minorities through each area.

In Senate of Pakistan whole background and all the related information has been discussed like the purpose of senate, its composition, the eligibility criteria of its members and the legislative power it has. Likewise in National Assembly its background, seats, its dissolution and the power it has been discussed.

In Caretaker government, its existence and role has been discussed, that how come care taker government come to exists, its role and the appointment took place. In electoral rolls as the name described that the enrollment of voters has been discussed; that how many voters belong to each province, district wise and then the detail discussion on every district.

Creditworthy citizen

Elections where a responsible citizen feels encouraging for bringing change in the society. The right of vote belongs to the people having age of 18 or more whether men or women. Pakistan constitution puts no restrictions in the name of gender and it fully support role of women in politics. The Political history has shown some great leaders like Benazir who rule the Pakistan political party i.e. PPP for years.

Being a responsible citizen is not just a so called duty of the Pakistani but the utter promise that we should make to the leaders that put great efforts to get a separate own land where everyone has a right to worship his God according to his or her own believes. Thinking of bringing change to the society feels that you’re alone in the world of aliens then think how Quiad-e-Azam would feel ages ago demanding a separate own homeland for not only Muslims but also for the people belonging other religions and on what account he feels so attached  by the suffering Muslims in sub-continent?

The answer is yet not simple for the people who feel strange towards their country ethics!

The leader like him who is well educated, having great career ahead and living a luxurious life why he feel the pain why he believes in Two Nation Theory? Why he urged every Pakistani to become educated to serve his or her country? Why he urge not to fall in the cast and creeds departing each other’s in Sindhi, Balochis, Pathans and Punjabi's because a true leader knows that United we stand and Divided we fall.

Unfortunately by witnessing such Political and non-political conditions of Pakistan we've somehow forget the true essence of being a patriotic Pakistani where the love of raising the image and standard of country has been lost in the piles of own greed’s where the self-image should be better the country’s image doesn't matter, where we feel ashamed to tell someone that we’re Pakistani, where to change the nationality is the premium quality dream.

To discover the responsible of such conditions we will answer the Government of Pakistan however the stakeholders for this cause are many including us!

We do not vote because we think that one vote can how bring change? The hope of our true leader is shattered by his nation by giving such under statements. We break the laws because we think that when everyone is breaking law then why not me?

A leader having such traits cannot be reborn in a society like this where no one has moral values, but the country is surviving as we've brave soldiers and some of responsible citizens.

We desperately need some more personalities like our Quaid to save our ship from drowning. The change will however not that easy by simply just voting however by understanding the responsibilities that are due on us one by one and to take start from somewhere is necessary then not to take!!!

After effects of Election 2013

Pakistan election 2013 results to be in favor of PML (N) according to the Election Commission of Pakistan as they occupied 189 seats, whereas PPP acquired 45 and PTI 33 seats.

After the elections were held Imran khan the chairmen of PTI declared elections to be bogus by showing numerous evidences relating numerous NA’s. On this account he held protest in different cities around the country claiming to re-hold the elections. The protest grew bigger and bigger thus the supreme court of justice approves to retake the elections in few NA’s, but that doesn't satisfy Imran khan who continuously argues to retake the fair elections by having electronic voting system in Pakistan so that no one can argue that the elections are not fair. Thus he held a long march from Lahore to Islamabad adjoining great amount of PTI followers.

PAT on the other hand also decided to join the long march on the killing of innocent people by the hand of police of Punjab.
The protest continues not only for days but for months having several agendas by both parties. The deadlines, meetings with the government correspondent, the collisions among party’s followers and police, the resignations of the MNA’s of PTI, the betrayal within the parties became the headlines of the news for months and months.

Not all of the demands of both parties were accepted like the FIR of the PAT was conducting judicial trail, the elections were also retaken by the government in few NA’s but that doesn't satisfied both parties leader results in  continuing the protest.

Thus suddenly by having no longer response from the government and day by day increasing difficulties in continuing the protest PAT decided to end the protest whereas PTI continued it for months when a terrible day in Peshawar that is marked as the most darkest in the pages of history where terrorist attack in Army public school not for having hostages but to take revenge from the government  of Pakistan on having operation “ZARB-e-AZAB” in which army took the responsibility to clean the Pakistan’s land from terrorist. Thus the fire of revenge ruined the school along with the whole nation by brutally killing innocent 140+ children, Principal, Teachers and other staff members. The horrible incident not only left the affecting families in the grief but the whole nation felt grieved as well as horrified by the incident.

The whole nations thus stand together to fight against terrorism and bring it to an end so as the political parties and the protest of PTI comes to an end so fight the national cause.
